Our Story
Ahannah is a non-governmental, social interest organization established in 2023 in Malawi.
Ahannah's main area of focus is the geographic area of Nyika/Vwaza in Mzimba and Rumphi Districts, Northern Malawi. It was formed in response to the need to organize the communities of the area so that they can take the lead in identifying and responding to their own problems.
Ahannah's objectives include:
- To motivate the rural communities to identify their own problems and needs and begin alleviating them
- To assist in building the capacities of the rural communities to be able to do things on their own
- To facilitate the implementation of locally organized socio-economic development programs
- To facilitate establish preschools .
- To establish preschools and advocate on community self support for the preschools
- To support orphans and vulnerable children
- To provide assistance to HIV/ AIDS affected families
- To support other organizations that exist in the area of conservation of natural resources
- Introduce programs that would improve lives of the elderly, girl child, victims of gender-based violence, windows, street children and orphans.
- To create a platform for interaction among members of the rural communities so as to able to share their problems and best practices.
So far Ahannah has established a nursery school for children, an environmental conservation club for youths, and Ahannah Trophy for youths in various sports categories.
